Today’s rustic DIY project is so versatile that it could fit into the decor at any wedding venue! We have seen lots of ideas for photo booth backdrops and so we wanted to make one of our own combining some of the best things we have seen on the blog! This would be a great addition to a barn wall or a rustic farm door like ours! You could use any kind of greenery, we chose the leather greens because of their structure and delicate shape. You could even use wildflowers if you wanted to! The stiffer the stems the better. You want to be sure that whatever you use won’t wilt once its sprayed. Try a test beforehand and see how it holds up. We chose leather because these gold leaves photograph beautifully which makes it perfect for a photo booth backdrop or indoor ceremony backdrop! The gold sprigs could also be incorporated elsewhere in your wedding venue if you are looking to spruce up a rustic venue! Have fun!
What You’ll Need : Leather Greens / Gold Spray Paint / Clippers
1) Trim sprigs using scissors or clippers to your desired lengths. Leave a few inches of stem at the base, it helps with composition later on.
2) One by one, lay each sprig face up and lightly spray with gold spray paint. Carefully set aside to dry.
3 ) Look closely at each sprig, you may need to add another coat if there are bare spots.
4) Lay sprigs out in the arrangement you will use on the wall. You may need to trim some down to create a nice balance that feels random but well spaced. You can use the stems to make the sprigs look straight by lining the stems up so they are all parallel. If some of the stems are too long when you lay them out, you can trim them at this point.
5) Using poster tac, nails or tape, affix the gold sprigs to the wall that you want to use for your backdrop and your’e all set!
We love the way they look on a distressed barn door like this one but they would also be gorgeous on dark wood paneling or even a stark white wall!
