Kerry, Jillian & Erin of Rambling House – Contributors

Rambling House’s namesake is the Irish tradition of a family home where locals gather to share in good conversation, storytelling, and song and dance. Rambling House strives to infuse that sense of community, tradition, and celebration into each personal touch added to events, from handmade décor, to quality food designed and created from local sources. The Rambling House mission is to make clients and their guests feel right at home. Erin, Kerry, and Jillian. The former two are sisters and New Hampshire natives, who draw inspiration from childhood visits to the family homestead in the Irish countryside; the latter is a good friend who originally hails from upstate New York and met Erin during their time at college in Vermont. She grew up baking with her family and taking Sunday drives through the Adirondacks. All three women graduated with writing degrees and possess shared passions for local and organic, as well as hosting a great party. With an acute attention to detail, Erin harbors a fondness for anything vintage, and grew her appreciation for food, wine, and sustainability during her time as a volunteer organic farmer in Europe. Jillian, the taste buds of the company, has multiple years experience in farm-to-table catering, spent time working with EatingWell Magazine, and has lived with a passion for food since childhood. Kerry, our resident crafter, recently returned to the northeast from Los Angeles, where she spent three years working, exploring, and throwing obsessively-detailed themed parties; she will soon be embarking on a year in South Korea and plans to return with fresh design inspiration.

Kate McKenna For Rustic Wedding ChicKate McKenna  -  Contributing Writer
Kate McKenna is a writer and editor living in Los Angeles, where she remained after receiving her degree in English Literature from the University of Southern California. Kate hails from Western New York, where she was raised by a family that believes wholeheartedly in the special magic of the simple things. During childhood summers spent at her family’s cottage on the rocky shores of Lake Ontario, where she experienced the very definition of rustic. This cottage, held together with a wish, a prayer and lots of elbow grease, was built by her grandfather from a hot dog stand, an airplane spotting station, and any number of odds and ends as the Second World War came to a close. It was in this way that she established a deep and abiding love for all things rustic, natural and steeped in history, as this remains one of the most magical places she has ever know. Kate can be counted on to cry at every wedding she attends and hopes that never changes.
