When you think “rustic wedding”, you probably imagine your hair down, flowing and relaxed. However, this tends to be impractical if you want to enjoy yourself—greeting, dancing, and being outdoors in the elements are not conducive for a down-do! This doesn’t mean you have to have your hair tightly pulled back to keep it out of your face and off of your neck. Follow these simple steps for a relaxed, yet elegant, up-do for your special day! Want to see more hair inspiration? Check out our ideas for a Boho Vintage wedding hair style.
Part your hair into three sections, with the bulk of your hair in the back and two small sections to the side. Pulling the two side sections away, fashion the large middle section into a tight reverse French braid (weaving the strands under each other, rather than over). End the braid at the nape of your neck.
Starting at the bottom of the braid, begin to loosen the strands, until your braid has a relaxed look. Be careful not to pull the strands out of the elastic.
Tuck and pin the ponytail underneath your braid (corkscrew bobby pins work well for this purpose). In this case, there is no such thing as over-pinning. You don’t want to be worried about your hair falling out throughout the wedding. Dance-ready hair needs to be secured!
-6: Now, take one of your side sections and twist. Pull the twisted section down and across the loose braid. Pin it under the braid, hiding any loose ends.
-8: Repeat steps 4 through 6 with your last side section. Pin away any loose ends. Apply hairspray as needed.
