We heard a rumor that tin cans are the new mason jars and we love the look! We love this DIY project to dress them up a bit so they are looking great in your wedding decor! It is so fun and easy and looks really fantastic in any rustic wedding setting. This looks best with a mix of sizes of cans so collects all kinds before your wedding so you have lots to choose from. You can also mix the different metallics to create an ombre effect, or keep them separate for a more distinct look!
What You’ll Need : Tin Cans / Silver Gold & Copper Liquid Gold Leaf Paint / Paint Brush / Plastic Disposable Cup / Scissors / Flowers / Newsprint
First lay down newsprint to protect your working surface. The liquid leaf paint is oil based so you will want to be extra careful with it as it stains easily. It can be removed with lighter fluid in the event of an accident. We recommend using a brush and cup that you don’t mind disposing afterward.
Remove the labels, then rinse and dry the cans thoroughly before you begin. Start by coating your first tin can with an even layer of one color of paint. Allow it to dry and add a second coat.
Set the first aside and move onto the next color. If you are creating an ombre / add some of the new color to the first color to create a fade from gold to copper.
Once all of your cans are painted and dry, fill the cans with water and add your desired florals! We love how the purples of these lilacs and rannuculus look with the warm metallic tones of the cans.
Wrap up all of your mess with the newsprint and set the cans out. Take a look at the centerpiece from the top to see how you want to arrange the cans.
Trim any excess greens.
Set them out in your determined arrangement as your centerpiece! They catch the light so beautifully!
