Beauty Tips From Catherine Ianelli: Lip Luster

When you are planning a wedding it is easy to forget about the fact that you need to take care of yourself so that you can look as radient as you feel on the big day. We are so excited to have beauty expert Catherine Ianelli from Farm Couture Living contribute her unique and special insights and recipes for taking care of your skin leading up to your wedding day.

The lips “seal the deal” on your wedding day, and you want them to be soft and smooth. You can easily make your own lip balms for you and your bridal party with just a few simple ingredients that you will probably have in your kitchen pantry. Your bridesmaids will absolutely love this gift!

FARM COUTURE BRIDE TIP: I recommend using lip balms that are made primarily with beeswax as it is a natural emollient and instantly locks in moisture.

LIP TIP #2: If your lips are flaky simply take a soft toothbrush and gently massage in small circular motions over your lips and then apply your lip balm.

LAVEDNER ROSE LIP BALM (Makes 6 lip balms)

INGREDIENTS

12 T tbsp of olive oil

6 tbsp beeswax

12 Drops lavender essential oil

12  drops of rose essential oil

DIRECTIONS –

1. Mix the olive oil, beeswax and essential oil in a bowl. Place in a pan of simmering water.

2. Blend the ingredients together with a spoon or spatula until the wax is completely melted.

3. Pour the mixture into a lip balm container and allow to cool and set.

FARM COUTURE TIP – If you have any dried lavender petals you can also sprinkle a few on top of the poured lip balms to add some vibrant color.
