Rustic Vintage New York Wedding: Christina + Billy

Some weddings appear in my email inbox and I literally can’t get my fingers working fast enough to get the images up on the blog for all of you to see. This wedding is exactly that type of wedding. This wedding took place at the New York wedding venue, West Park Winery in upstate New York. From the bride: We knew we wanted to get married in the summer and imagined it to be on a cool August evening at a venue with the option to be inside or outside depending on the weather. This particular venue was very hard to find in upstate New York, until I stumbled upon West Park Winery . This was an old, rustic, non-functioning winery that is mainly used for weddings. The ceremony site was on location, perched on a hill overlooking the Hudson River. It was the perfect venue for the vintage/rustic theme I had in mind. I spent my summers scouring flea-markets, yard sales and estate sales, always on the lookout for old treasures. I ended up using a lot of my old “finds” for the decor, including half-gallon aqua mason jars for centerpieces that I collected, old bottles with flowers dispersed throughout, an old milkbox for wedding cards, and floral frogs borrowed from my antique-loving aunts, which I used to display pictures and also table numbers. There were a lot of personal touches. I made my own menus, seating cards and table numbers. A good friend of my mother helped me design the ceremony and a few other aspects of the wedding. She actually picked wildflowers from a field the day before and then set them up at the ceremony site. It was absolutely beautiful.

Our favors were a no-brainer. Pickles. Fortunately, I have inherited my grandmothers pickling skills, so I knew we had to make dill pickles to hand out. I bought all the ingredients, which included hundreds of pickling cucumbers and fresh dill from the farmers market and a local farm. I got my girls together one weekend and we pickled away, making about 175 jars of pickles. They were a huge hit at the wedding!
