Wedding Paper Garland DIY

Paper Garland DIY

There are only a few things we love more than a good rustic wedding DIY project so when this fun project came our way from our friends at Rambling House Events we could not want to share it. Creative and fun, this project does not take up too much time and works for just about any style wedding you are having. Think about how much fun this garland would be if you used a metallic paper or even ones with tiny cutouts which let light shine in!

Materials Needed:

  • Scrapbooking Paper
  • Scissors
  • Paper-Cutter
  • Hot Glue Gun or Adhesive Tape

Step 1: Cut It – Cut your scrapbooking paper into long strips—ideally, your strips will be 3 or 4 inches wide. Each pinwheel will require two strips of matching paper. Don’t be afraid to mix and match different colored and patterned pinwheels when it comes to stringing the garland!

Step 2: Fold It – Evenly accordion fold your two strips of paper. If these strips are not evenly folded, you will be able to notice it in the pinwheel. The smaller the accordion fold, the tighter the pinwheel, and wider folds will show off more of the pattern.

Step 3: Adhere It – Taking one strip, bend the accordion so that it is sitting in a half-circle. Add a dab of hot glue to the middle to hold the paper in this shape. Repeat with the second strip. Then, add glue along the flat end of one of the half-circles, and adhere the two half-circles together at their flat sides. Repeat with the rest of your strips

Step 4: String It – After deciding the pattern you would want your garland in, thread a needle a colorful butcher’s string. String through the top of each of your pinwheels, adding a drop of hot glue on the backs of the pinwheels so that they don’t slide down.Paper Garland

Tips:

  • Add a contrasting button or bead to the center of the pinwheels for an extra pop
  • Hang the garland along a favor table or specialty table to tie in your wedding colors
  • String the pinwheels vertically, in rows, from a stick or dowel for a photo-booth backdrop!
