Planning your wedding takes time. Lots and lots of time. Fortunately, there are a handful of tasks – some little, some large – that can be checked off your list in much less time than originally thought. Give yourself an hour and you’ll be amazed at what can be accomplished as your prepare for your big day.
1. Organize A Guest List
Organizing is a lot different than finalizing. Finalizing a wedding guest list can take days if not months of consulting with various family members. Organizing a guest list entails making sure you have all the right contact info for your guests so that when it comes time to reach out with save the date cards and invitations you’re not scrambling for third-cousin Wendy’s mailing address. While on the subject of the guest list, another item that doesn’t take long to check of off your list is securing a wedding block at a local hotel/venue.
2. Build A Wedding Website

3. Find A First Dance
Your first dance is one wedding detail every guest will be talking about! Long after the photographs have been developed and the thank you cards mailed, your friends and family will still be talking about your first dance. With all that pressure it’s very easy to overthink your song choice but this is an instance where the couple must trust their initial instincts. And if that doesn’t help you can always refer to this helpful list of popular music selections. And all those songs that didn’t make the cut be sure they end up somewhere on the wedding playlist.
4. Day Of Timeline
Making sure you get to the church on time along with all the other chronological particulars of your wedding day should not take an entire day to plan. This is a task that often leads to unnecessary overthinking and stressing. The best tip we can give is to layout your wedding day hour by hour starting with your first event (hair & makeup, breakfast with the bridesmaids, etc…) then create space for each event after that including time to get dressed, before ceremony pictures and don’t forget to add in some time for a meal!
5. License To Marry
Securing your marriage license takes longer than an hour however finding out where to go and what to bring in order to be legally wed is not all that difficult. States and counties differ with requirements so make sure you look carefully online before heading out to the courthouse. Be sure to place close attention to words like “original” meaning you can’t bring a copy of your birth certificate and how many days before your actual wedding you need to apply by.
