Growing up in New Hampshire, Kate loved the outdoors. When she became engaged to Mike, a guy who shared her love of the outdoors, they just knew the perfect place for their wedding was her childhood home in Henniker, located along the Contoocook River. It is a college town and resort area, featuring skiing and white-water kayaking, and oh, a little known fact, the game of paintball originated there in 1981. The ceremony took place on the front lawn, and the reception was held under a gorgeous sailcloth tent. Mike got in on the DIY action building the beautiful arbor that they were married under and the bar for beer and wine. It was completely a friends & family affair, an aunt did all the floral arrangements from local flowers, the cake and cupcakes were baked by a friend’s mother, and the very “green” wedding favors came from the New Hampshire State Nursery, which focuses on native species grown from seed.
