Don’t think you can have a tropical beach wedding and mix in a rustic theme, think again my friends. Today’s amazing real wedding showcases just how perfect a destination rustic beach wedding can be. From the photographer: When bride Sarah called us and said that her vision was to have a destination wedding in Costa Rica where all the decor felt like a gorgeous shipwreck – and that all her most favorite friends and family would be there to celebrate as if on a deserted island. We were hooked. Not to mention that her awesome new hubby is basically the equivalent of Aiden from Sex and The City – he lives in NYC and makes furniture. So he insisted that he make the chuppah for their wedding. He walked down the gorgeous beach to find driftwood and some perfect foliage and voila a gorgeous chuppah for his new bride to say her I do’s. A big thank you to A Brit & A Blonde for capturing this magical beach wedding.
The reception space featured round tables with ivory tablecloths and mahogany Chiaveri chairs. Reproductions of antique maps were scattered on each table top to give the effect of a captain’s desk, cluttered with charts, maps and various seafaring objects. Each table was named after a ship and the etching of a sloop from their invitations was recreated in the table names. Every table held a different tablescape, created with antique silver items such as tea pots and bowls, antique medicine bottles filled with flowers or sand, mason jars wrapped in lace or twine, Morrocan lamps, beaded votive holders from Indian, Cuban cigar boxes and tea sets from China. Freesias, hydrangeas, orchids, roses, gladiolas and hydrangeas added pops of color and oodles of lovely texture.
