These tin lanterns are not only beautiful but super easy to make in large quantities. The tin paint cans can be found at Lowes, and are relatively inexpensive. Your choice of pattern will determine how they look when lit but there is really no wrong way to go! Polka dot and starburst patterns are beautiful but you could also try a chevron pattern or stripe! The size of the holes can also vary by simply changing the size of your drill bit. Happy drilling!!
What You’ll Need : Tin Paint Cans / Tap Water / Power Drill / Tea Light Candles / Sharpie
1 ) Draw the design you want on the paint can in sharpie.
2 ) Fill the can with tap water and place in freezer. The ice will help the cans hold their shape in the next step.
3) Remove from freezer and use power drill to make holes in the paint can following your design.
4) Allow water to melt and dry your drilled paint cans. To speed up the process, run them under hot water in the sink.
5 ) Place candles inside the paint cans and light!
