When you combine elegance and a backyard wedding you end up with one magical event…just like this one! From the bride: We wanted our wedding to be nothing but the epitome of the two of us. We wanted to honor and highlight all that we have been through, our memories and families. The things that have made us who we are as a couple. First and foremost, we decided to have a backyard wedding at the house I grew up in, just like the wedding that my mother and late father had. Their wedding was casual, guests brought their own chairs, and it was full of garden splendor. The house that I grew up in, and that we were married at, was designed and built by my father. It is also the place where he had his final moments with us. It was the best venue to honor and be with my father on our special day. Thanks to Leona Campbell Photography for sharing this wedding with us!
We chose to have a very small ceremony with immediate family, and then invite other friends and family to the reception after. This was a bit controversial, but we wanted our ceremony to be intimate. We are fairly private people, and we couldn’t imagine sharing certain moments in front of people who we had never met before, so we kept the ceremony list small. After the ceremony we left to read our own personal vows to each other privately. This was the best part of the entire day. We sat there, no photographer or guests present, and were able to take it all in. We read our vows, cried, laughed, and listened. As we sat in the woods down by a stream, we could hear the music and laughter surrounding us. We were caught between wanting to stay in that private moment just the two of us and wanting to jump right in and join the celebration.
