We love few things more than a simple peony wedding bouquet. Now that they are in season we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to show you how to work with them and make your own simple and stunning wedding bouquet with only a few stems! We are working with fully bloomed peonies here but if you want to work with smaller buds you could easily make the same bouquet! Have fun!
What You’ll Need : tall vase / water / floral wire / boutonniere pin / clippers / peonies / white ribbon
Start by filling your vase with water and adding your first stem!
Add one stem at a time, carefully nesting the open blossoms.
Some will be fuller and have more color than others. Arrange them with the densest blossom at the center.
If some have extra leaves or sad petals, remove them with the clippers. You may want to leave some leaves for contrast.
Once you have them arranges into a symmetrical bunch, take a look at it from all sides and the top to check it.
At this point, pull some leaves out from underneath so that they will show when bunched together, or remove them altogether.
Holding the flowers firmly at the base of the blossoms, list them from the vase and with the other hang, wrap the stems with wire. You want to keep the stems exactly as they were int he vase to keep the configuration the same.
Tightly wrap the stems so that all of the stems are secure. Then trim the bottoms of the stems so that are all the same length and have a fresh cut.
Once trimmed, take a long length of ribbon, close to a yard, and cross at the bottom edge of the stems.
Wrap the ribbon in opposite directions up the stems to the base of the blossoms.
Press the boutonniere pin into the top cross of the ribbon, and sink the end of the pin into the stem, being sure it doesn’t come out the other side. You don’t want to snag your dress!
Trim any excess ribbon you have left, or leave long if desired!
Check the blossoms to make sure everything is happy and secure and return the tips of the stems to water until it’s time for your walk down the aisle!
