Making A Mother of the Bride Corsage

Making a Mother of the Bride Corsage We love when mothers of the bride get their own special style accessories, and our favorite of all of them is a corsage. Its is a big day for mothers, and a corsage makes them feel and look extra special. It’s a tradition we don’t see often enough! If you are doing the flowers for your own wedding and you want your mother to have something extra special, this could be the perfect handmade gift to give her the morning of your wedding. With the right supplies this is easy to do and we promise she will absolutely love it. It is easiest to work small and we suggest trying it out first because the composition can be a little tricky. If you don’t trust your own floral skills, you could make this really easily with just some simple baby’s breath or wildflowers.

What You’ll Need : Roses / Berries / Filler / Lace Edging / Floral Tape / Corsage Stems / Scissors

How to Make a Corsage

First, snip the stems of the roses close to the blossoms and twist the corsage stems in tightly after wetting them. These stems will allow the roses to last longer.  You may remember them from this chair decoration tutorial also!

Arrange the roses how you want them, and then take one of the wires from the corsage stems and wrap it around the other stems tightly at the base. Keep in mind as you compose the corsage that you will want it to lay flat against the wrist. You may want to work on a flat surface to make this easier.

Next add in filler and berries, using one of the unused corsage stem wires to secure them in place.

Next add your interest pieces, being berries or filler and use the remaining corsage wire to secure them in place.

Using floral tape, wrap the stems while covering the corsage wires so that they aren’t visible.  This will also keep any sharp points from sticking out.

Trim the stems from the base of the wrapped corsage.   You may want to wrap the end after trimming the stems if any of them are sharp to add to the comfort of the corsage.

Wrap the floral taped end in lace and knot it tightly. Then wrapping over the base, secure the corsage to the wrist of the mother of the bride for a perfect accessory! You may want to use lace that has some stretch to it, or attach an elastic band and tithe lace over it if you are using something delicate. That way you will be certain the corsage is comfortable and secure!
