New York Rustic Wedding Venue: Cedar Lakes Estate

cedar-lake-estate

It probably does not surprise you that I hear from brides daily who are looking for help in searching out the perfect rustic New York wedding venue. But what might surprise you, is that on any given day one or two brides are always emailing from the New York, New Jersey or Pennsylvania area. With rustic venues at a minimum in this area, I can proudly say that I found a place that can help out brides in all three of those states and beyond if you are looking for a rustic destination wedding. Cedar Lakes Estate, a 500 acre estate, located  in Port Jervis, New York and is only a 70 mile drive from New York City and is quickly becoming the wedding spot of choice for NYC area brides. Cedar Lake Estates even has on site accommodations and activities for your guest.

Well our wedding has come and gone and I am sad about one thing. Its over. Cedar Lakes EXCEEDED our expectations. We had about 1.5 years of planning with the Cedar Lakes Estate staff and they did exactly what they said they would. They are a newer venue so we were expecting a few hiccups and over sights-and there were none. Our guests were floored by the perfectly groomed grounds, the attentive staff, the 5 star restaurant cuisine and the unique weekend that was offered to our guests. When serving at a camp to over 220+ you would expect standard wedding food. No, the entire weekend Chef Lisa Karvellas went above and beyond with her intimate touches and made the food a roaring hit. From the summer salad perfectly blended with dressing and toppings, to the ribs falling off the bone- people were in awe and going up for seconds.
This privately owned estate allowed for all my DIY touches, no noise restrictions, beautiful accommodations on site. From our parents questions (and boy did they have questions) to the continuous one on one attention from Stephanie & Lisa, they made planning a wedding from the west coast seamless. I wouldn’t say I am a bridezilla, but I have a vision and a particular style. When you do planning for a living, its challenging to give the reigns to others. After our wedding, my husband and I would have changed NOTHING and we owe it ALL to Cedar Lakes Estate. I am happy to speak to anyone regarding my process, vendors and further experience as this truly was a wedding to remember. Thank you Stephanie & Lisa- you started our marriage out perfect, just like you both know I like it 🙂

Don’t be fooled. Place is beautiful but you will get the worst service ever! They will take all your money and will treat you like garbage. Food is okay but not great. The drive up to the place is horrendous. Dirt road with huge pot holes all over. Good luck driving up at night. Me and wife loved the place but the service was bad. We heard from friends that their tour for the place was not pleasant. Talk was about how much money it will be. And extras this and that. We warned them but people needs to see for themselves. Well, for that service, we might as well all gotten married in a town hall. Property is pretty. But be warned with the owners. Take your lawyer with you to be safe from being ripped off.

    Hi,
I am inquiring about this venue at the minute but am concerned about the cost – would you mind sharing the estimated or ballpark cost? Sorry if this is too invasive, just trying to decide on whether this is a realistic option for us.

This Venue is SPECTACULAR! I can not say enough good things about the Cedar Lake Estate grounds and the girls that run this place. Planning a wedding from the West coast to have it on the East coast hasn’t been easy, but the Cedar Lakes Estate staff is bar none. My mom and I searched every venue in the Hudson Valley area/Tri State Area-I have seen literally EVERY venue. Our biggest challenge was the size of our wedding. Another challenge was having only accommodations for some guests on the grounds. At CLE it has it all! Accommodations for up to 200+ people. Impeccable lodging, groomed grounds and the options to hold your event our endless. Want a rustic elegant feel where you’re not inside a tent? Even better have an indoor AND outdoor options? This is the spot! Im so excited to have my event at this hidden gem!

Sydney, did you visit recently? Just wondering how chilly it is this time of year upstate as we are thinking of a Fall wedding but prefer to hold things outdoors as much as possible.

Joanna- I have not gone up in the Fall yet. I live in CA so its hard to go often. However I went to summer camp up here and it def. gets chilly at night . However, a handful of the cabins are furnished, even have fire places and alll bedding included. With anything outdoors during Fall/Winter time I would look into heaters because the temperature drops. The good thing about this venue, is that no matter the weather, winter, rain, it gives such an outdoors feel because of the scenery but you can have a roof over your heard. The barn will definitely be warm as it is fully enclosed. Hope this helps! -Sydney
