This wonderful DIY style wedding blends a country wedding together with a rustic one! From the bride: My husband and I love the outdoors and it has played a large role in the couple that we are today. We love the elegance that nature provides for the backdrop to any occasion. When we were planning our wedding we knew we wanted a rustic wedding that would have detailed personal touches, while remaining beautifully simplistic. I grew up outside of Pittsburgh and my parents still live there, so on the advice of family and friends we looked into Armstrong Farms for our wedding venue. We knew instantly from the moment we walked onto the property that that is where we were going to be married. A big thank you to Brittany Anderson Photography for sharing this wedding with us today.
We were blessed that both of our families played a HUGE role in out wedding. They all came in early and helped us decorate and put everything together for the wedding. My two uncles played guitar for the ceremony which was so special to both of us. My husband’s family friend performed the ceremony which allowed us to put personal touches into the words spoken at the ceremony.
Jake and I wrote the ceremony together, then we both wrote vows to each other that we spoke the day of the wedding. It made the ceremony very personal to us and everyone there. I was lucky enough that my husband brought my whole wedding dream in my head to life. He built the arbor we got married under, the barn doors I walked through coming down the isle. We wanted to eat our first meal as a married couple at the table we will eat meals with our future children at, so he built us our head table. He created and built our guest book which was a bar top that our guest carved their names into which will be put into our house when it is built. He also built our cupcake stands and made all of the chalkboards that were around the wedding. He made my wedding dream a reality.
