We received so much wonderful feedback after we featured the post where the wonderful event planners from Rambling House Events showed us how to do a rustic wedding hairstyle we figured we would give you another idea. This faux hawk style is perfect for bridesmaids, wedding guests or I see it as a perfect hairstyle for a rustic backyard style bride. Thanks again to the talented ladies of Rambling House Events.
Steps 1 & 2 – Beginning with dry hair, pull the front hair away from your face and secure it with bobby pins. If you’re going for more of a rock-and-roll look, back-comb your front section to give it some body and bump.
Steps 3&4 – Pull even sections from each side, just below your pinned hair, and twist them together at a downward angle. Once the hair is evenly twisted in the middle, begin to wrap the twist into a bun. Secure the bun evenly in the middle of your head. Repeat this step right below your first bun.
Steps 5&6 – Repeat steps 3&4 until you reach the nape of the neck, using all of the hair to twist into buns. The amount of hair you take in each section will determine both the bun size and the amount of twist-buns you will have in your faux-hawk up-do. You could create a line of many small twists, or a line of three large twists. We recommend twisting an odd number of buns (i.e. 3 large, 5 medium, or 7 small).
The Finished Product – Your faux-hawk up-do is simple and elegant, but has a flare of fun. This is a great hairdo for the laid-back bride! Or, for the bridesmaids, switch up the size of the twist-bun faux-hawks to give everyone their own style. Dress it up pearled pins or dress it down a with a boho garland.
