Taking place at the Maryland wedding venue, The Barn at Springfield Farm, this wedding displays how a DIY style wedding can really come together and look great. From the bride: Rumi and I met in 2009 through a group of mutual friends while I was studying abroad in Peru. We continued dating long distance after I went back home, and I came to visit him over spring and summer breaks for the next year and a half before moving back down to Peru to teach english after graduating. We got engaged on the beach at sunset in Punta Sal in northern Peru at our favorite vacation spot while my mother and sister were visiting. Thanks to Rachel Smith Photography for sharing this magical wedding with us today.
As we moved forward with wedding planning, our focus turned to the decor. For our wedding details, we went with the D.I.Y. approach. My maid of honor and best friend did the save the dates (which was my favorite part of the stationary) and a family friend surprised us with a gorgeous handmade cake stand with the phrase from the save the date engraved on it. My sister did the favors, and my mom did the centerpieces.
