Many brides like to bring a little of the vintage style to their wedding decor and this bride was no different. Taking place at a Pennsylvania rustic wedding venue, this couple planned their wedding down to the last rustic chic detail. From the bride: My overriding vision for our wedding was for it to be more of a celebration than a production. It was very important to me that every detail have a deeper meaning and value to us—that it reflect who we are as a couple and that it honor our roots. Thanks to Willa J Photography for sharing this wedding with us today.
In contrast with the stark beauty of the chapel, we chose to host our reception in an old family barn that gave new meaning to the word “rustic.” Although it was an enormous undertaking, the process of transforming the dilapidated barn into a proper reception venue supplied all of the inspiration I needed for creating a wedding atmosphere unique to us. Cow stalls were converted into a bar and wine cellar, the hayloft was promoted to a balcony, and a rickety wooden ladder found new life as a chandelier. Along the way, we discovered a number of family treasures that we were able to salvage and incorporate into our centerpieces and decorations. One of my favorite discoveries—a Hoosier-style cabinet—served double duty as a favor table and a precious display of family wedding photographs. In the end, nearly every member of our family (and many of our friends) contributed to the transformation of the barn, and it was unbelievably satisfying to be surrounded by the evidence of their love and thoughtfulness on our big day. Although the day flew by as quickly as everyone says, the joy we found in sharing those special details with our loved ones permitted us to relish in the culmination of one journey and to celebrate the beginning of a new adventure.
