You will not believe that this couple was able to plan such fun camp-like wedding for under $10,000. In fact, this couple planned this entire rustic style wedding from just $7,500 which included a venue. Holding their wedding at the Connecticut rustic wedding venue, Berkshire Hall at Brodie Park, Christina and Jake were able to plan their big day on a great budget and not skimp on style. From the bride: We wanted to display our love for books and games; our casual style as a couple, and our desire to have a day filled with fun and lots of laughter. We tried to incorporate lots of fun, quirky details and bright colors. We really wanted the wedding and reception to reflect our personalities. Thanks to Katie Slater Photography for sharing this one-of-a-kind wedding with us. See more budget wedding ideas.
We used books covered in fabric for our centerpieces. We also added origami book page flowers to add to the floral arrangements and my bouquet. In addition we made book page flowers hand painted with watercolors to match the color scheme to put into some of the vases on top of the books. The escort cards were made from scrapbook paper and we used scrabble tiles to direct people to their seat. Escort cards were strung on blue twine with mini clothespins across a burlap background. We also used burlap table runners and set up the tables family style to give the overall reception more of a casual picnic feel.
We did have a strict budget of $7500.00. My parents graciously took care of the catering and half of my dress but Jake and I covered all other expenses. Our wedding planner, Jenn was a huge reason why we were able to stay within our budget. She helped price out all of the decor and gave great advice as to what we shouldn’t worry about and what was worth splurging on. One area we saved a lot was our venue. Because Brodie Park is owned by the town of New Hartford it was much cheaper than other venues we researched.
