We love this unique rustic wedding which features a really cool western wedding feeling. Taking place at a friend’s ranch, this wedding shows off how a unique wedding location can look so cool. From the bride: Since we had decided on having our reception in a barn, we really went all out with the rustic theme, making sure to tie our personalities and hobbies into every little detail that we could. Anytime I came home from the craft store, Alex would say, “Let me guess, more burlap?” Haha! I spent a lot of time making most of the decorations on my own because I wanted to keep the cost down and have as many personal touches as possible. My favorite craft was our table names. We used the names of places that we had traveled to together instead of table numbers. These were accompanied by a little sign describing why that place was special to us along with a few photos of us at that place. Thank you Elise Nicole Photography for sharing this special wedding.
Although we had a long engagement of almost 2 years, we started looking for a venue very quickly after Alex popped the question. Finding the perfect place was actually a bit more challenging than we expected! San Francisco and Tahoe were the first places that we went venue shopping. San Francisco was where I was living when Alex and I started dating and most of our early relationship memories are from there. Tahoe is special to us because not only is it our favorite weekend getaway destination, it is also where we got engaged. Even though both cities have beautiful venues, we were having trouble finding a place that accommodated two of our biggest needs- easy access for our large families and elderly guests, and a Catholic Church that we had spent time in together. This pointed us to look at our hometown of Livermore, CA. We were so happy to finally settle on a city that met all of our needs- and it was right in front of us all along!
