This Alaskan rustic wedding is the perfect example of a budget-friendly event pulled off with rustic elegance. The bride shared with us: “As a couple that loves to fish and hunt, we wanted to share Alaska’s beauty with our guests by making it a true Alaskan outdoor wedding. Our ceremony was held on a secluded lake, 24 miles up the Klutina River. It was a location that couldn’t be reached by road, so we had all our guests and the wedding party boated to shore. The bridal party wore flip flops and to top it off, my garter was camouflage with a fish charm on it. As we exchanged vows the lake behind us was turquoise blue with bold red salmon rolling as if it was planned perfectly. The weather cooperated and as the bridal party traveled upriver, I counted 18 eagles that day. An Ahtna Native man said to me seeing eagles are a sign of good luck- always remember the count.” True to their Alaskan roots, the color palette of pink and turquoise was inspired by the water they fish in and the salmon they catch. They exchanged gold nugget wedding rings, and ended their perfect day watching the summer sun set at midnight. Thanks to Russell Gearhart Photography for sharing with us this elegant rustic wedding.
