Taking place at the southern rustic wedding venue, Creekside in Austin, Texas, this wedding showcases how a wedding can have style and elegance and not take itself too seriously. As the bride tells us she wanted to her day to be special but no overly fussy so people could not enjoy themselves – we could not agree with this idea more! From the bride: We described our style as humble elegance . I wanted everything to be beautiful, but I didn’t want anyone to feel like they couldn’t relax because it was too formal. I have been at weddings like that and it doesn’t leave room for much celebration. We wanted people to feel like they could show up in Vera Wang or jeans, and we had both. Lastly, we focused in on keeping things just simple enough so that we could actually enjoy our wedding. We didn’t have a wedding planner which meant we had to rely on friends and family for help during the wedding. Making sure those family and friends had a good time meant making sure to keep things simple enough that they could still kick off their shoes and dance even of they had a job or two. We have to thank Madeline Harper of Harper Photography for sharing this truly unique and magical wedding. Love the way this southern rustic wedding looks and want more – check out our southern weddings and our southern wedding venues.
From the bride: Honestly, we chose Creekside more because of what it didn’t have: limestone. I am not originally from Texas and most of the venues in our area all start to look the same with their limestone facades. I always wanted to have a backyard wedding and Creekside looked like a house with a backyard and all. (We even had backyard games during the reception!) It is a venue with plenty of space, but it feels intimate and warm. We also picked it because it has a bridal room to get ready in. I think it is important for the bride to have a quiet place to sit if she needs a moment.
