Summer weddings are wonderful for so many reasons but one of our favorite reasons are all the available color themes From soft pinks and blush tones to cool greens and nautical blues, we have always had a crush on summer color schemes. When looking to find the perfect wedding color theme we have put together a list of tips to help you find just the right one.
Consider The Venue & Location
The location can tell you more about what color theme you should be using than you might at first realize. Many wedding venues come with their own set of natural color themes given the location, when they were built and in what style. Taking time to really look at the venue and letting the location offer a color theme is better than trying to fit your own color ideas into a space and then having things clash.
Take Into Account The Time Of Day
Most weddings seem to be planned for later afternoon or early evening but no matter what time you will say “I do” getting the color theme to match your time of day is something not to be overlooked. If hosting a morning or mid-day event think about using light colors. Not only will the light colors play nicely with the time of day but they will also add to the less formal look of a day wedding. If planning an evening or night wedding you are free to use more bold colors like black, white, gold, silver and creamy colors. Evening weddings tend to be black tie so pick a color that is going to add to the elegance of this type of affair.
Think About Your Wedding Style
Rustic, country, backyard, vintage… we could go on and on with different wedding styles. But there is something to be said about allowing your wedding style to direct your color theme. Once you decide on a style more often than not you will see a specific type of pattern across your decor and locations.
How To Work Colors Into Your Wedding Details
Once you have an idea for what your color theme might be consider how you can work it into your wedding details. Everything from engagement photos to wedding websites to table linens, these are all places to work in your color design. I personally love it when couples start right off the bat by incorporating their new color scheme with the first wedding details sent out to guests like their Save The Date cards and wedding website info. When you add your color theme to these first impressions you are creating a cohesive look that will be carried throughout the entire wedding timeline.
