You thought collecting all of the RSVP’s for your wedding would be as easy as simply checking your mailbox. Unfortunately, we hear from brides-to-be all the time about how getting people to actually respond – and on time – is no easy task. To help you get over this wedding planning headache we have 5 simple solutions for getting people to RSVP.
1. Give people enough time to plan & respond
Getting invitations 8-10 weeks before the big day is optimal and asking guests to RSVP 3-4 weeks before the wedding date is ideal. One of our favorite tips is to number the back of the RSVP card and have it match up with your guest list so if someone mails back a blank one (it happens more than you think) you can match it up with your list.
2. Make your RSVP card digital
Everything is digital these days and so why not streamline the process of RSVP’ing by making it a seamless part of your wedding website. Squarespace, the all-in-one solution for couples looking to create a beautiful and functional wedding website, offers an RSVP option that looks and feels so elegant you won’t mind ditching the response cards. Plus this option can help with your bottom line as you will end up saving on postage and printing. 3. Get Creative
No one said you have to stick to the traditional will / will not attend formal wording so why not get creative. One of our most popular posts ever was on creative ways to word your RSVP card. Whether you are printing a card or adding it to your wedding website make sure you add a little of your own personality to it.
4. Provide several ways for guests RSVP
It seems slightly crazy that you have to cater to your guests in order to get them to reply to your wedding. However, if you want a proper headcount for the venue and vendors you might need to offer several RSVP’ing options. In addition to sending a RSVP along with the invitation make sure your guests know they can RSVP online through your wedding website or even text you their reply.
5. Provide an RSVP date in more than one place
As much as you would like everyone to read each and every detail of your wedding information many people will take a look at the invitation and info and probably put it to the side for some time. One of the easiest ways to make sure you get all the RSVPs in is to make the RSVP date deadline prominent in several places. If you are printing an RSVP card you should make sure the date you want them back is in larger text. Adding an RSVP tab to your wedding website makes it easy for people to see that you need them to respond. We also suggest adding an RSVP deadline to your wedding website homepage, the page most people will visit.
