Flower crowns are all the rage these days and we just can’t get enough of them! Flower crowns are fun and easy to make, especially if you keep it simple & elegant. For this crown we used simple white orchids and greens with white ribbon for a beautiful effect. Follow our tutorial to make one of your own! If you are going more traditional with your wedding, this would be a great activity for a bridal shower or bachelorette party if you wanted to get a group of friends to make them together! Have fun!
What You’ll Need : Orchids / Scissors / Greens / Floral Wire / Ribbon
First, make a loop at the end of your floral wire and twist it a few times to make a secure loop which you will use later to tie the crown ends together. Then slide your first orchid onto the wire by passing the end of the wire through the open center of the blossom.
You will not need to puncture any petals which is why using orchids is such an easy and awesome trick for a floral crown. If you want to buy precut orchids, you can purchase leis and deconstruct them or you can cut them from the vines yourself. Once the first blossoms has been threaded, pierce the edges of two green leaves and slide them down to the base of the blossom.
Repeat these steps being sure that the leaves and orchids are all facing the same direction as you go. Cut leaves as you need them.
As you get further along, measure your crown to see what your final length should be and mark it on the wire.
When you reach your mark, twist the final end of the wire into another secure loop and trim any excess wire from the end.
Cut a piece of ribbon and loop it through the two wire loops to tie the ends of the crown together.
Tie the end either with a knot or a bow! You decide! If you would rather go without the ribbon altogether, when making the final wire loop, wind it through your first loop and then twist closed.
