The word nontraditional used in the context of a wedding used to have somewhat of a negative connotation but recently we have seen a movement towards nontraditional being the new tradition. As we start off 2013, I wanted to give you a jump on some of the wedding trends I am seeing for the new year. With wedding season only a few months away we thought now is the perfect time to roundup of some great new rustic wedding trends along with a few country wedding trends.
Rustic Wedding Trend #1: Bridesmaid Dresses With Sweaters
In the past few years we saw brides mixing it up when it came the bridesmaid dresses including bridesmaids wearing different style dresses in all one color, bridesmaid wearing different color dress in all the same style and most recently the addition of different color bridesmaid dresses in a variety of styles. My favorite new trend in the bridesmaid dress world is the combination of dress + sweater. Not only will your bridesmaids thank you that they can stay warm on those cooler evenings but it also adds such a wonderful country chic quality. Here are a few great examples of how bridesmaids are pulling this look off.

Rustic Wedding Trend #2: Mismatched Vases
We all know that brides are using vintage and mismatched china at their weddings but I have spotted a trend of brides featuring mismatched vases on their wedding tables. One of the great thing about mixing and matching vases on a table is that it offers depth to the table decor and also showcases an fun eclectic feel to the table.

Rustic Wedding Trend #3: Re-purposed Items For Decor
One of the trends I love seeing is the idea of re-purposing or “up-cycling” items into your wedding day decor. Brides are getting very clever by adding everything from doors for ceremony backdrops to window pane table assignments to tin can vases.

Rustic Wedding Trend #4: A Pop Of Color On The Bride
Gone are the days when brides are sporting the color white from head to toe. Brides are adding a pop of color to their wedding day which not only looks great put also fosters a wonderful celebratory style. Brides are adding pops of color to their wedding day by adding a great looking necklace, a colored sash to their gown or adding a colored wedding high heel to their look.
